Workshop:  Human Trafficking in North Dakota

A workshop will be held from 1 pm-5 pm to explore the issue of Human Trafficking in North Dakota. Learn what it is and what we’re going to do about it. Featuring Senator Heidi Heitkamp.

Celebration:  2014 Woman of the Year

Following the workshop, we'll honor the contributions of NDWN's 2014 Woman of the Year – Representative Kylie Oversen. A reception will be held from 7-9 pm at the Harvest Brazillian Grill in Mandan at 308 W Main St. www.harvestbrazilliangrill.com    

2014 NDWN Woman of the Year Recipient Biography 
Kylie has served in the North Dakota House of Representatives since 2012.

Kylie was born and raised in Killdeer, North Dakota. She received two bachelor’s degrees, Social Sciences and Social Work, from the University of North Dakota, graduating Magna Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa. She is currently attending the University of North Dakota School of Law.

Prior to serving in the legislature, she served as the Student Body President at UND, where she was an advocate for over 14,000 students at the campus, community, and state level. Most notably, she and her team worked extensively on improving the student fee allocation process at UND and advocated for underrepresented and disadvantaged student populations.

Before beginning law school, Kylie interned with the PLUS Program in Grand Forks, where she served children and families in Grand Forks County. She also worked with the UND Alumni Association and Foundation as a special projects coordinator, overseeing sustainability projects within the new Gorecki Alumni Center.

Kylie was also former counselor at American Legion Auxiliary Girls’ State Program, is a member of the Greater Grand Forks Young Professionals, currently serves on the Board of Directors for Red River Valley Habitat for Humanity and the Board of Directors for the North Dakota Area Health Education Centers.

The North Dakota Women's Network is sponsoring an advocacy training and a progressive women networking event on Sunday, March 8th.

Are you interested in meeting North Dakotans working toward change? Do you want to network and learn more about the political process? Are you interested in learning the process of grassroots organizing?


NDWN will host an interesting and interactive advocacy training. Empower yourself to be your own advocate! We will walk participants through lobbying tips, political structure, and testimony preparation.

The training is from 1:00 pm until 5:00 pm on Sunday, March 8th.

 

Additionally, the North Dakota Women’s Network would like to invite you to participate in an evening of fun and socializing with other progressive women from across the state! We are hosting a social with legislators the evening of March 8th.
