Karen Ehrens of Bismarck has been named the 2018 Woman of the Year by the North Dakota Women’s Network (NDWN) for her long-time advocacy in the fight to end hunger. A banquet will be held on Friday, September 21, at the Ramada Hotel & Conference Center, 1400 Interchange Ave, Bismarck at 6 pm to celebrate Ehrens and her impactful work. Karen Ehrens of Bismarck has been named the 2018 Woman of the Year by the North Dakota Women’s Network (NDWN) for her long-time advocacy in the fight to end hunger. A banquet will be held on Friday, September 21, at the Ramada Hotel & Conference Center, 1400 Interchange Ave, Bismarck at 6 pm to celebrate Ehrens and her impactful work. Karen Ehrens is a health and nutrition consultant, registered dietitian, and policy advocate. She connects groups working to provide food and end hunger in North Dakota. Karen is a long-time ND Women’s Network Member and is Vice Chair of the Bismarck-Mandan League of Women Voters. Karen was an endorsed candidate for the North Dakota House of Representatives in District 32 in 2016. She has provided testimony to the city commission, the state legislature and the US Congress on proposed legislation impacting health and nutrition. Karen was nominated by Waylon Hedegaard and Ellie Shockley. Previous NDWN Woman of the Year recipients include Dina Butcher, Connie Hildebrand, Bonnie Palecek, Judy DeMers, Kylie Oversen, Karla Rose Hanson, Cheryl Bergian, Nancy Johnson, Ellen Chaffee, Kathy Fick, and Kathy Hogan. The Woman of the Year Banquet will kick off the NDWN Annual Meeting. In addition to the banquet, the NDWN Annual Meeting will include a variety of education sessions on issues facing women.
