Two bills regarding state employee family leave policies (2258 and 1244) have been heard over the past two weeks. We’ll also spend a little time diving into a few high profile actions for next week as well. Click this link at 9am on Saturday, March 14th to catch this short update: https://global.gotomeeting.com/join/145996237 Email me at renee@ndwomen.org if you need a phone number to dial in. We are excited to report that House Bill 1257, the update to the ND pay equity bills, passed unanimously in the Senate this week. It now goes to the Governor and he will very likely sign it. Next week the other pay equity bill (1294) that prohibits employer retaliation against employees who discuss their wages is up for a hearing on March 18 at 9:45am in Senate Industry, Business, and Labor. Following that hearing is 1463, which would require reasonable accommodations for pregnant women.
Next Tuesday and Wednesday there will be a number of hearings on issues regarding violence against women. We will be strongly supporting all the legislation while also pushing to have the gag amendment removed from 2107.
