They haven't gone home yet. See the latest from the 2017 legislative session. Click here for the updated tracking grid. No, they aren’t done yet. The goal was 70 days and right now they are in day 73 with a good number of bills left to debate – about 24, it seems. The good news for the week is that 2203, Human Trafficking Victim Services funding passed with $825,000 budgeted. This is less that the introduced amount ($1 million) but higher than originally passed out of the Senate ($500,000) and House ($250,000). The Voter ID bill, 1369, passed on to the Governor this week as well. Unfortunately the change made in the Senate did not go with it. The conference committee decided to remove the amendment that allowed voters to follow up with identification proof through email. Now the law restricts the follow up as in person only. Thanks to smart people for helping press the important point about increased funding to crisis pregnancy centers while cuts to nearly everything else. Vital programs are on their last leg, but the state has no problem finding funds for fake women’s health clinics. Read and share these great letters: Alternatives to Abortion program is wrong for North Dakota North Dakota Legislature continues to politicize women's health Add your name in opposition to public funding for anti-abortion sham clinics. The legislature should be finishing up work next week, so I imagine next week will be the last of the weekly updates and we’ll follow up with a voting record.
I want to continue to highlight the list of the vacancies in the Governor’s boards and commissions. See that list here. There are 48 openings in the Governor’s Boards and Commissions. The link to each commission is also included in that list. Consider applying for an opening or if you know of an individual that would be an exceptional representative to serve on a Board or Commission of Governor Doug Burgum, please encourage them to apply online - Application Form. The full list of boards can be viewed at Governor's Boards & Commissions.
