See that photo above? That’s an image from the Pay Equity hearings on Wednesday where Representative Kylie Oversen makes the case of women’s pay equity to a room full of men. It was a big task that was handled valiantly. The committee continues press us to prove a problem exists. Yesterday I spent 30 minutes sharing research and will return to do the same next week. Keep up the pressure to get quality pay equity legislation passed in North Dakota. Next week is busy for NDWN. On Monday, January 26, we’ll be testifying to increase Medicaid coverage for pregnant women (HB 1291) at 10:45 and for family planning (HB 1295) at 11:15. Monday we will also testify in favor of a state EITC (HB 1405). Click here for an EITC factsheet.

On Wednesday, January 28, a number of bills addressing Human Trafficking will receive a hearing in Senate Judiciary. FUSE – A Force to end Human Sexual Exploitation, the coalition co-founded by NDWN and allies, will be a lead in presenting testimony, along with the Attorney General’s Office.
