The North Dakota Women’s Network, in collaboration with Bismarck Attorney LaRoy Baird, Constitutional Law Expert Steven Morrison, and the North Dakota Council on Abused Women’s Services, has filed an Amicus Brief in the ND State Supreme Court regarding a law passed in 2011. The law in question restricted use of medication abortion to an out dated regimen. The law was struck down in district court, but appealed by the state to the ND Supreme Court.
Standing with the Red River Women’s Clinic’s challenge to the law, NDWN and partners argue that the law is discriminatory and serves no legitimate purpose. You can read the full amicus here. The North Dakota Medical Association also contributed to the court case by thoroughly explaining the problems of using outmoded medication regimens as well as the interference in doctor-patient relationships. You can read NDMA’s brief here. NDWN will follow the case and keep you all informed as it progresses through the court system. You too can follow it here.
