​North Dakota Senator Heidi Heitkamp just announced her support for the Family And Medical Insurance Leave Act.

Did you hear the exciting news? North Dakota Senator Heidi Heitkamp just announced her support for the Family And Medical Insurance Leave Act, also known as the FAMILY Act (H.R. 1439/ S.786)! This critical legislation would provide a national paid family and medical leave standard.
Please take a moment to thank Senator Heitkamp for standing up for women and families by supporting the FAMILY Act.
At some point, nearly everyone will need to take time away from work to deal with a serious personal or family illness, or to care for a new child. Unfortunately, only 13 percent of workers have access to paid leave through their employers and fewer than 40 percent have access to personal medical leave through employer-provided short-term disability insurance. That means that too many of us are one new child or serious illness or injury away from financial devastation.
 
Here in North Dakota, we’re lucky to have a senator who is standing up for family friendly policies like the FAMILY Act and it’s important that Senator Heitkamp knows you’re standing with her.
